Most antique dealers source their stock from auctions. While rare individual items can do well at auction; the majority of auctions will clear coin collections in bulk. Rarely are they checked by a qualified numismatist, resulting in coins selling far below their true market value. After the auctioneers commissions, lotting fees and buyers premiums the vendor will get far less than selling direct to a dealer. Auctioneers typically take about 50% of the final selling price in fees and commissions.
I pay top prices, almost always, higher than a seller would achieve at an auction. I will also beat any price offered by any other local professional coin buyer, so why not make Woosworld your first choice. |
